The application, in collaboration with JDI, sought to replace the existing house and outbuildings with a modern home of over 6000 sqft designed to reflect the local vernacular and minimise any impact on the Green Belt. The pitched roof has been broken up to reduce the perceived bulk of the house and single storey, flat roof elements extend the ground floor.
The choice of materials also ensure the dwelling sits sensitively within the surroundings and helps to break up the massing. Light grey brick wraps around all of the ground floor and first floor gables, and much of the first floor walls will be clad with a composite terracotta cladding system. The roof is natural slate, another nod to the local vernacular. Large areas of glazing make the most of the fantastic countryside views to the front and rear of the house.
