The wonderful landscape scheme, designed by McWilliam Studio, is a key part of the proposal. They have designed a vibrant scheme that marries perfectly with the new homes, enriches biodiversity, and improves the visual appearance of the site and view from the public footpath.

Currently in for planning, is our proposal for 5 new homes on a brownfield site in the Green Belt. The houses have been sympathetically designed to sit comfortably in their rural surroundings and take design cues from local vernacular farm buildings, built with a modern twist. The linear arrangement ensures the new development sits on the same footprint as the existing buildings. Materials include local Chiltern’s brick, black timber cladding and slate roof tiles.

We are very happy to announce planning approval has been granted on appeal for a new dwelling in the Chorleywood Conservation Area.

JDA’s brief was to achieve a low maintenance, sustainable and accessible home to suit the specific needs of our clients who were looking to downsize but keen to stay at the property they have called home for much of their lives.

The building was designed to have a minimal visual impact on its surroundings and is cut into the slope of the site to follow its existing contours. Its materials were chosen to respect the character of the Conservation Area with clay tiles to the roof and upper walls, and local Chilterns bricks to the lower ground floor and plinths.

A recent new build house in Amersham for a private

A recent new build house in Amersham for a private client, designed to sit comfortably in its suburban street-scene, the house is a modern take on the Arts and Crafts style so prevalent in the Chilterns.

Traditional materials have been used including: Chiltern brick, plain clay tiles, render and timber windows, and design details such as the brick framing around windows, and a course of plinth headers forming a bracket course beneath the vertical tile hanging adds interest and character.

An open plan, family living space runs across the back of the house and connects with the rear garden.

Having previously carried out significant extension and alteration works to the main house at this property, it was great to be back for the second phase of work - A new garden pavilion and outdoor spa created in conjunction with @jane_duncan_interiors , designed to sit quietly in the corner of the garden, nestled against the Listed garden wall. Acting as a backdrop to the extended landscaping scheme, we chose materials that were in-keeping with those used on the main house so that both structures would sit next to each other harmoniously. Many thanks to our wonderful client for trusting JDA once again and great to be working with the same team again.

Today we are taking a look back at a project which illustrates perfectly how contemporary design can be used to complement the beauty of a listed building.

We were asked to design an extension to this Grade II listed house, set within a conservation area, which would include a kitchen & breakfast area, a utility room, family room and changing rooms for the outdoor pool.

The result is this stunning, modern single-story extension which connects with the garden beautifully through the use of glazed doors and blends with its surroundings with its black timber boarding.

We’re back! Although we have been on the quiet side lately, we have been very busy working behind the scenes on lots of great new projects that we can’t wait to share with you.

The first piece of news that we would like to shout about is our latest award from the International Property Awards 2022-23 for ‘Best Architecture Single Residence Buckinghamshire’ for our Woodlands project, designed in collaboration with @jane_duncan_interiors .

Contemporary and environmentally friendly, Woodlands, was designed as a linear pavilion style dwelling that stretched away from the site entrance into its woodland surroundings. A heavily glazed ground floor allows views out into the landscape from all directions, and above, the more private bedroom block cantilevers over perpendicularly to create a sheltered terrace area below.
