Beaconsfield - Extensions and Alterations

Extension and whole house refurbishment

An existing detached dwelling house has been extensively extended and altered to provide a contemporary family home, whilst remaining fully harmonious with its semi-rural environment. The scope and nature of the design work included the remodelling of the entire volume to provide a full width extension to the ground floor rear elevation, combined with a two-storey extension containing a vaulted master bedroom at first floor level. Generous areas of glazing are employed throughout, to both maximise light penetration and to provide level access to the rear garden.

The ground floor layout was altered and integrated into the rear extension to create free-flowing open-plan kitchen, dining and living space together with a generous entrance hall, cinema room and play room. Additional space was created at first floor level by the addition of a projecting gable above the per-existing garage, simultaneously enhancing the street presence and adding cohesion to the front elevation.
