Our conversion of this agricultural barn into a mo

Our conversion of this agricultural barn into a modern house is on the final stretch now.

In order for us to gain planning consent for the conversion, the appearance of the original, open barn had to be maintained. To help achieve this we set the new front wall back by 1.5m which exposes the original structure and gives the illusion of openness beneath the roof. The resultant overhang also acts as solar shading to the south elevation and creates a covered walkway and entrance canopy at the front of the property. The set back front wall will be finished in black timber to further enhance this effect.

We recently gained planning consent for the extens

We recently gained planning consent for the extension and conversion of a property in Iver to create a pair of modern, semi-detached homes.

Our wonderful new developer clients at @msquaregroup worked closely with us on the designs and, critically, encouraged us to push for more than we originally thought possible.

The result is one 4 bedroom, and one 3 bedroom home, both enjoying wonderful views to the countryside beyond.

Completed last year, it was lovely to revisit our extension to this wonderful Grade 2 Listed house in Buckinghamshire.

The extension connects the house with the garden and introduces natural light and garden views into the new kitchen. It appears separated from the historic facade as the two are connected only by a slim glass link.

The fabulous garden design is courtesy of our client, and reflects perfectly in the large panel of glass - image 2.

The new brick wall of the extension uses glazed headers as a reference to the same detail in the historic brickwork - image 3.

Revisiting some old projects during the lockdown. This one is a restoration and extension to a wonderful period property in The Chilterns.

The extension includes a new corridor, designed to provide access along the length of the house without having to go through the kitchen and dining room - a simple solution that has transformed how the house is used (see second picture). The third image shows how the house looked c1910.
